GAMING is a huge part of my world and has been a constant in my life since I was a little girl. Since the long-ago days of ATARI, I have always enjoyed playing video games, whether on console or PC. And yes, I still enjoy a board game or card game, too. But I 💚 to play video games!

I introduced my son to computer games at a very early age, and his sister followed in our footsteps. We have been gaming for over 15 years, and we play both MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games) and open world action role-playing video games. Life simulation games are favorites as well. Below are some IG  photos (in game) of our characters from various games we play. If you want to check out some fun and entertaining games, please visit the links listed below.

Minecraft is a 3D sandbox video game created in Java by Markus "Notch" Persson and developed by Mojang Studios, and it was first made public in May 2009 before fully releasing in November 2011. Minecraft has since been ported to different platforms and is the best-selling video game of all time. My son, Tanner, has been playing since the game's inception and I finally started playing back in June 2016 on his server and we play survival mode. PC Games has a list of some of the best Minecraft servers. Check them out!

Desired Craft (DC) was the first online multiplayer server that my kids introduced me to, and we spent four years playing on this server. But after a reset and then the server being 'hacked' (causing another reset), many players left, and the server shutdown. DC once had the best Prison/Jail and Eco server, and there has not been another to rival it.

Hypixel is another favorite multiplayer server and the player base makes it one of the largest Minecraft mini-game servers you will find. Hypixel has received four Guinness World Records (Most Popular Independent Server For a Video Game, Most Popular Minecraft Server Network, Most Games on a Minecraft Server, and Most Unique Players Logged Into a Minecraft Server) and is widely considered to be the largest currently-active Minecraft server, with over 100,000 unique players concurrently online during peak hours. One of our favorite mini-games to play is Murder Mystery.

Autcraft is the server you will find us on these days. It was founded by Stuart Duncan (AutismFather) and created for kids/adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. An application has to be submitted and accepted to gain entry to the server. We have been playing Autcraft for over a year now and it is so much fun! There are lots of events and contests to take part in, and everyone is so nice! We won 1st place in the Build a Snowman contest last Christmas and attended our first Autcon this year. 😊 This server makes you feel like family and I am proud to be a Patreon.

I have been playing Pet City since 2014, when I started playing with my daughter. We played for a good five years before Pet City was scheduled to shut down because of Flash Player, which support for ended in December 2020.

Pet City is by Catalyst Apps and released on Facebook in June 2011with weekly in-game releases have since generated over 70k+ art items, 10k+ animations, and counting! Pet City's cute pets draw players to the game daily and they stay for the beautiful clothes and furniture released every week. Amazing animations and attention to detail keep our players coming back for more. Embedded animations allow pets to engage with other pets and other smart animations.

Pet City 2 was released in June 2019 and is the followup to Pet City. Whereas both Pet City and Pet City 2 run on Facebook desktop, Pet City 2 also runs on iOS and Android mobile platforms. Pet City 2 carries forward the tradition of Pet City, where cute pets enjoy new clothing, furniture and other decor items every week. Pet City 2 also continues with the strong community foundation that was key to the longevity of Pet City.

My daughter and I continue to play Pet City 2. While many things have changed and shifted, it still continues to be a fun game to play.

Roblox 1_18_2022 8_19_30 PM.png

Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system developed by Roblox Corporation that allows users to program games and to play games created by other users. My son has a few games that he is working on creating. I have been part of the Roblox community for several years and my favorite games to play are Royale High, Splash Skate, Zombie Uprising, Work at a Pizza Place, Anime Fighting Simulator, and SOS Titanic.

Roblox is free-to-play, with in-game purchases available through a virtual currency called "Robux". My daughter and I are part of an adult group of players that get together the last Saturday of the month for themed Game Nights. We connect via Discord to VC (voice chat) and game hop.

The Sims 4 is the fourth major title in The Sims series of life simulation video games developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. The Sims 4 is the life simulation game that gives you the power to create and control people. Experience the creativity, humor, escape, and the freedom to play with life in The Sims 4.

I have been playing The Sims since 2001 and I enjoy creating and re-creating the families to live in my virtual world. I like to keep my game "cartoony", with a bit of realism thrown in.

Stardew Valley 7_27_2022 10_08_25 PM.jpg

Stardew Valley is a simulation role-playing video game developed by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone. You’ve inherited your grandfather’s old farm plot in Stardew Valley. Armed with hand-me-down tools and a few coins, you set out to begin your new life. Can you learn to live off the land and turn these overgrown fields into a thriving home? It won’t be easy. Ever since Joja Corporation came to town, the old ways of life have all but disappeared. The community center, once the town’s most vibrant hub of activity, now lies in shambles. But the valley seems full of opportunity. With a little dedication, you might just be the one to restore Stardew Valley to greatness!

I started playing this game with my kids on STEAM back in 2020. It's a very fun, laid-back and entertaining game. We actually just started a new save.

Team Fortress 2 7_13_2022 6_18_55 PM.jpg

Team Fortress 2 is a 2007 multiplayer first-person shooter game developed and published by Valve Corporation. It is the sequel to the 1996 Team Fortress mod for Quake and its 1999 remake, Team Fortress Classic. One of the most popular online action games of all time, Team Fortress 2 delivers constant free updates—new game modes, maps, equipment and, most importantly, hats. Nine distinct classes provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities, and lend themselves to a variety of player skills. No matter what your style and experience, we’ve got a character for you. Detailed training and offline practice modes will help you hone your skills before jumping into one of TF2’s many game modes, including Capture the Flag, Control Point, Payload, Arena, King of the Hill and more.

I started playing this game just recently and it is quite entertaining. You can choose between Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demoman, Heavy, Engineer, Medic, Sniper, and Spy. Me - I prefer Demoman. There are loads of weapons to choose for your character, hats and more to collect. You can also craft, buy and trade. Choose between the Blue or Red teams, but the game will also autobalance, putting you on the opposing team. The taunts are by far the most hilarious - if someone in game is using one, your character can join in. (see video below)

I started playing The Elder Scrolls V SKYRIM back in 2019. My character's name was Brynja. I actually haven't played in a few years. I usually play a modded game version (thanks to my son), and maybe one day in the future I can start a new game. Next time - I'm marrying Brynjolf! 😍

Gaming is a hugely popular activity that both children and adults enjoy doing in their free time, and it can impact your mental health in both positive and negative ways. In a 2019 survey that was done, approximately 80% of gamers responded that gaming provides them with mental stimulation, relaxation, and stress relief. I am part of that 80%. I love playing games with my kids and other online friends to pass the time, but I also play to relax and de-stress.
