We sailed out on our first cruise in July of 2007 leaving out of Galveston, TX on the Carnival Conquest. My husband's mom and dad, along with his youngest sister, and our nieces embarked on this journey with us. We had an amazing time, but it was difficult for us as a family with a special needs child. Skye did okay the first couple of days, but it was during a trip to Camp Carnival where things turned sour. She had a meltdown and one of the staff refused to allow her to stay. After that, we were on our own. We ended up missing the Captain's Dinner, and a few other entertainment venues for adults, but we all ended up having a great time.
